The business owner we are featuring today is Beth Simpson Quave who attended Mississippi University for Women from 1996 to 1998 and majored in Elementary Education. While at the W she was a member of the Reveler Social Club, Lambda Sigma National Honor Society, and Hottentots. She served as a Student Alumni Ambassador and Orientation Leader and participated in the Baptist Student Union.
After leaving the W, she finished her degree in Elementary Education at Mississippi State University. She married Jason P. Quave shortly after graduation and began a teaching career in Jackson County. She was a 4th grade teacher in the Jackson County School District for five years until the birth of her son. At that time she began freelance technology training to school districts in the Gulf Coast area, part-time. Then in 2006 she became a Sales Consultant for The Pampered Chef. She and Jason welcomed a second child in 2007.
In Fall of 2009 Beth founded Fleur de Lis Confections, LLC. It is a licensed home kitchen operating in Mobile, AL. When asked why, she replied “I wanted to have a flexible schedule to fit the needs of my busy family. I wanted to be able to work at home to be with my young children. I also love the creative side of my work. I have always been passionate about cooking and baking so this was a perfect fit.” Her basic product line is custom cakes and cupcakes. She refers to herself not as a baker, but as a “Cake Artist” because her cakes are edible works of art!
Her favorite types of cakes are large elegant wedding cakes. She also does cakes for birthdays, showers, and other celebrations. She recently was honored to make a cake for the Mobile, AL American Cancer Society Organization for their Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Campaign. She even made a wedding cake for a fellow “W Girl” this summer. She loves getting to help people celebrate special moments in their lives with something sweet.

Her market niche, she told us is “Fresh homemade cakes with artistry appeal. All of my cakes, fillings, buttercreams, and fondant are made in house. I use delicious recipes that always offer a moist cake for your function. I also specialize in cutting edge cake design and modern techniques as well as traditional classics.”
Beth Serves the greater Mobile, Alabama area. You can see more of her beautiful work on her website/blog www.fleurdelisconfections.com. Her phone numbers are 251-666-2741 and 228-324-2869
